The Second International Forum "Engineering Technologies 2012"

July 1, Zhukovsky – The Second International Forum Engineering Technologies 2012 (Forum ET 2012) which was held in the territory of Russia Transport and Exhibition Complex at Ramenskoye airdfield, Zhukovsky, Moscow Oblast, from June 27 until July 1, 2012 has successfully ended. Over70,000 guests visited the Forum.

Forum ET 2012 was a big event in the exhibition program of the year for Russian mechanic engineers and arms producers. Five days of strenuous work resulted in the business program prepared by the participants which determined the ways of solving the development problems of the prime industrial sector, new business contacts, and concluded contracts. The Forum was open for all comers since June 29 till July 1. Visitors saw unique demonstration program The Invincible and Legendary.

The Business Program of the Forum included 20 conferences, round table discussions and workshops, and about 190 contributors. More than 3,000 participants from 103 countries took part in these events. Representatives of the largest foreign companies implementing joint projects with Russian mechanic engineers were involved in the Business Program of the Forum.

The Forum was launched with plenary session High Technologies – the Determining Factor for Sustainable Development of the Advanced Engineering in National Economies with participation of the following persons: Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Andrey Vorobyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Vladimir Gutenev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry, Alexander Fomin, Director of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation, Boris Aleshin, Director General of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky Federal State Unitary Enterprise, Yevgeny Kablov, Director General of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials, Sergey Borisov, President of OPORA RUSSIA All-Russian Non-governmental Organization of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship, Aleksandr Idrisov, Managing Partner of Strategy Partners. The international business community was presented in the plenary session by Sergey Sidorsky, Minister for Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Frank Schauff, CEO at Association of European Businesses, Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer at General Electric, Philippe Camus, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Alcatel Lucent, Wang Lin, Vice-President of China Poly Group Corporation.

The first day of the Forum also saw the extended session of the Coordination Committee of the Public Councils under the federal authorities under the guidance of Vladimir Gutenev.

The high point of the second day of the International Engineering Technologies 2012 Forum was conference Role of the Defense Industry Complex in Modernization of the Country and Society held under the guidance of Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation. Speeches of managers of the largest engineering enterprises and corporations, public persons, politicians, and leading specialists reflected not only problems facing the defense industry, but also ways of solving these problems. More than 250 delegates visited the conference.

International workshop conference Russian Corporations, Higher Education Institutions and Scientific Organizations: Challenges and Outlooks of Cooperation in Innovations Field aroused much interest of the audience. Problems at issue were so urgent that the participant had to extend the discussion.

The Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation (FSMTC of Russia) and participants of the military and technical cooperation held over 100 meetings and negotiations on military and technical cooperation with management and representatives of official delegations of military departments and industrial companies from 28 foreign countries in the course of which they discussed how to execute existing contracts, and shaped future plans.

The business program of June 28 included round-table discussion Military-Technical Co-operation as a Factor of Capitalization of Russia-NATO Relations organized by the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation and JSC Rosoboronexport. And with it, within the framework of the Forum, the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation of the Russian Federation organized conference Modern Technologies for Aftersales Service of Exported Weapons and Military Equipment and Their Development Based on Integrated Logistics Support Information Systems.

Forum ET 2012confirmed its status of a significant business event and became the platform for conclusion of a number of agreements and contracts. So on June 27 the Russian Technologies State Corporation and its holdings and their Russian and foreign partners signed a package of documents. Signed were six international agreements and three agreements with Russian companies.

Novikombank, a strategic partner of the ET 2012, also worked heavily at the Forum. These days the bank whose business priorities involved financing real economy of Russia signed cooperation agreements with leaders of Russian engineering – Orion Concern and Optic Systems and Technologies Scientific and Production Corporation, and companies of the Russian Technologies State Corporation – Biotechprom and Expatel. Conference Machine Building Industry in Russia: Growth Points, Investments and Bank Financing organized by the bank excited a great interest of participants of the ET 2012. It was visited by more than 100 managers of leading engineering and related industry companies.

The Federal Service for Supervision over Natural Resources held round-table discussion System of Rating Evaluation of Environmental and Economic Efficiency of Russian Business with the support of Russia Transport and Exhibition Complex. Participants of the event were representatives of the Russian Technologies State Corporation, the Federal Service for Supervision over Natural Resources and 36 large interested organizations and companies. The result of the discussion was the decision of the Federal Service for Supervision over Natural Resources and Russia Transport and Exhibition Complex to execute a new exhibition project Environmental Technologies in June 2013 in the territory of Russia Transport and Exhibition Complex.

The prepared infrastructure cooperated to the success of the participants of the Forum in their activity. It included conference rooms which seated from 100 to 200 and had sound reinforcement systems, simultaneous interpreting systems, and display equipment. The plenary session was held in F1 pavilion which admitted over 1,000 persons. Management of the Forum furnished break-out rooms for holding business meetings in the pavilion which should have been booked by the participants.

For the comfort of media representatives covering the Forum, there were provided for the press centre and press room to hold press conferences and to broadcast live performances of the plenary session participants. More than 1,300 accredited journalists from 270 Russian and foreign mass media covered the Forum.

The Exhibition Program of the Forum ET 2012 included two exhibitions:
- Oboronexpo 2012 International Exhibition of Military Equipment and Weapons;
- Mashpromexpo 2012 International Exhibition of Industrial Technologies and Innovations.

Over 300 companies from the Russian Federation and foreign countries: Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, France, Germany, Austria, China, India, and Singapore, took part in the Exhibition Program of the Forum. The Moscow City Government, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Samara Oblast, Ryazan Oblast Administration presented their collective expositions.

Expositions occupied pavilions at the area of 11.6 thousand square meters. Full-scale samples of weapons, military equipment and civil products of the engineering industry occupied over 8 thousand square meters in the open air. 27 units of equipment of the Ministry of Defense were placed in the parking area. The major exhibits were Iskander tactical ballistic missile system, S-300V air defense missile system, Buk-M1-2E air defense missile system, Tor-M1 air defense missile system, tanks Ò-90A and Ò-80U, BMP-3 infantry combat vehicle, BREM-1 armored recovery vehicle, 152-mm self-propelled gun MSTA, Grad military vehicle. The leading Russian and foreign companies and corporations presented 47 units of equipment. Some samples, for example advanced tank Ò-90S and BMPT tank support fighting vehicle from Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation and URAL-6370 truck from URAL Automobile Plant, were presented in the public at large for the first time.

The Demonstration Program of the Forum of the first three days included dynamic display of samples of weapons and military equipment on the specially built range of Russia Transport Exhibition. In addition, grenade and small-arms weapons were presented to foreign official delegations at the ranges of State Research and Production Enterprise Bazalt Federal State Unitary Enterprise and TsNIITochMash Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Building Federal State Unitary Enterprise.

With 30 units of equipment, program The Invincible and Legendary clearly demonstrated capabilities of modern civil and military equipment. Chief production director was Honoured Artist of Russia Aleksey Garnizov, choreographer of the Bolshoi Theatre Andrey Melanin produced the ‘tank ballet’. The Russian Committee for Planet Records Registration officially reported the synchronous maneuvering of five heavy tracked military vehicles on the extremely limited space.

Three days open to public saw five performances. Over 5-thousand audience managed to see program The Invincible and Legendary.

About 2 thousand policemen and soldiers of interior troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, and officers of private security firms and the departmental security service ensured security at the Forum. Over 100 volunteers from Moscow universities assisted in holding the events of the Forum.

International Engineering Technologies 2012 Forum was highly praised by participants, guests, delegates and media. According to Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, “Engineering Technologies 2012 Forum got not only registration in Zhulovsky. It gained authority and recognition.” It was decided to hold Engineering Technologies Forum once every two years, in even years.
